Self-care is caring of yourself first and then others, it sounds selfish and guilty but it’s important to be sane.
So, if we are speaking of self-care, it is both mental and physical. Both are equally important for a sane life, in this chaotic world with all the responsibilities we individuals deal with. Physical self-care can give us and instant mood lift, it’s important to go for it when we get physically drained. Like taking a head massage, body massage, a quick warm/cold shower, listening to mood lifting music, star gaze, sit under a moonlit night, feel the plants, play with sand it can be anything that suits one’s liking.
While mental self-care can make you stronger from inside out as you have better control over yourself. Here, one can practice meditation, talking to your inner self to understand what is hurting you, healing yourself and bouncing back with a fully charged self. Talking to a best friend or sharing what is hurting to someone who you trust more than yourself can also be considered.
So, how do I practice self-care? Me being a very positive and happy go lucky person, self-care comes easy to me. A small hug from someone I love soothes my soul well. But if, I am hurting or ailing from within, I don’t mind talking to a dear friend and unload myself. And if it’s something I don’t want to share with someone, I sit with myself and analyze the situation that hurt me. This art of self-analysis when I practice gives me so much control on myself that it heals me wonderfully.
I usually derive small pleasures from life so much that my inner soul already a happy one stays that way. I can pep myself up by listening to music, watching nature, playing with my pets, watching a cartoon etc. So, in short, it’s you and only you who can keep yourself safe from letting people hurt you. Also, it’s only your choice to keep ailing if hurt, or get yourself healed as quick as possible. So, keep self-caring as and when needed to keep yourself good.
